Aaron Dobynes, Jr. was born on March 18, 1989, in Marion, Alabama, to Aaron and Jennifer Dobynes. From a young age, Aaron was a fixture in the community, known for his outgoing nature and the joy he brought to others. He was educated in the local schools and graduated from Marion High School in 2007, where he was not only an exceptional student but also an active participant in various extracurricular activities.
His love for sports, especially basketball, was evident during his high school years. Aaron was known for his quick reflexes, competitive spirit, and leadership on the court, qualities that earned him respect among his peers and coaches. He played on the Marion High School basketball team, where he made many lasting friendships and memories that he would carry with him throughout his life. His natural ability to inspire others was just as evident off the court, where he helped organize local youth programs and events, working tirelessly to provide young people in the community with opportunities for growth and self-improvement.
After high school, Aaron attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he earned a degree in business administration. Though his academic achievements were significant, it was his personal qualities that truly set him apart. Aaron had a passion for helping others, and after graduating from UAB, he returned to Marion to work alongside his father at the family business, Dobynes Automotive.

His commitment to his family’s business and the Marion community was evident in his daily actions. Whether he was managing the auto shop, assisting customers, or volunteering his time at local events, Aaron always went above and beyond to contribute to the community he loved. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took great pride in his role as a mentor to young people who sought employment at the shop. Many of those who worked alongside Aaron spoke of his willingness to offer guidance and support, making him a trusted figure in the town.
Above all, Aaron was a devoted son and brother. He cherished his family deeply, and his love for his parents, Aaron and Jennifer, and his siblings, was evident in everything he did. His parents, who had always been a source of strength for him, were his greatest supporters, and he shared a special bond with his younger sister, Ashley, and older brother, Marcus.
Aaron’s family recalls how he would always take the time to check in with them, whether it was calling just to say “hello” or showing up to family gatherings with his trademark smile and infectious energy. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel seen and appreciated, making his loss all the more heartbreaking.
“Aaron was the heart of our family,” said Jennifer Dobynes, his mother. “He was the one who would bring us all together, whether it was for a Sunday dinner or a surprise visit just because. His laughter filled every room, and his warmth made everyone feel special.”

Aaron is survived by his parents, Aaron and Jennifer Dobynes; his sister, Ashley Dobynes; his brother, Marcus Dobynes; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Eleanor Johnson, and his paternal grandfather, Walter Dobynes.
A funeral service will be held at Marion First Baptist Church on November 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor David Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Marion Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on November 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Marion Boys & Girls Club or a local charity of your choice in Aaron’s memory.
Aaron Dobynes, Jr. may have left this world far too soon, but his life was one filled with purpose, love, and community. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
